Power
The Zoe Z.E. is driven from a 70kW (80 hp) electric motor providing 226Nm (167 lb-ft) of torque which is powered by a neat battery system. There are three charging options for the battery system. A full charge takes four to eight hours to from a standard charging socket to be fully charged but if you're in a hurry, a quick charge at a designated charging point will give an eighty percent charge in twenty minutes. There is also a "quick drop" system which allows for the battery to be swapped out for a fully charged battery in less than three minutes. A full charge will keep Zoe on the road for 100 miles.
Performance
Zoe is compact enough to zip through town traffic with ease. It accelerates 0-60 in 8.2 seconds and has a top speed of 84 mph for out of town motoring.
Design
There is no intake grill on the front end which adds to its impressively fluid shape as well as making aerodynamics more efficient. The pre-release model has 21 inch rims but the production version will have 19 inch wheels. The windscreen is placed well forward increasing cabin space and adding to the overall aerodynamics.
Inside
Renault partnered with Biotherm, the skin biology brand of L'Oréal's Luxury Products Division to provide a unique experience for driver and occupants with its triple-effect system.
Renault/Biotherm's smart climate control system automatically adjusts the humidity level to maintain skin hydration which normal air conditioning often dries.
A new toxicity sensor monitors air quality coming into the cabin and automatically closes the air vents when necessary. There is a cabin filter to ensure the air stays clean at all times.
An electric scent diffuser releases different scents depending on the driving conditions such as relaxing fragrances to sooth the driver on their way home from work or something to stimulate vigilance when night driving.
Renault has even created an audio ambience with relaxing music to listen to as you drive. To top it all, a central screen emits a stimulating light to increase the occupants feeling of well being.
The Renault Zoe is set to be a great fun car with zero emissions and even less road rage.
