Citroen DS3 Racing - the hot hatch for 2011!

The DS3 racing is the latest hatchback to come out of the Citroen stables. This is the road version to the DS3 R3 rally car. The DS3 racing is powered by a 1600 cc, 4 cylinder, turbocharged and direct injection BMW-PSA.

The DS3 Racing, despite its name, is not as red hot as its rallying brother, but an awesome beast nonetheless. It does have some great creature comforts not found in the rally car such as automatic climate control, a premium eight-speaker audio system, Bluetooth and a USB connection.

It also gets carbon-fibre wheel-arch extensions, rear air diffuser, lower body and front bumper. Other carbon-fibre accents throughout the interior and bucket seats installed, in keeping with the racy image.

The guys at Citroen have increased power by 30% to 207 brake horse power and the torque by 15% to 203 lb-ft (275 Nm). The front wheel drive is geared by a six-speed manual box and reported to reach 0-60 in less than 6.4 seconds with a top speed of 146 mph.

It has stiffer suspension springs and new shock absorbers are installed, front and rear tracks are widened by 30mm and the whole body has been lowered by 15mm which dramatically improves driving dynamics.

The Citroen DS3 Racing is controlled by powerful brakes in the form of four-piston caliper brakes on the front and ventilated discs on the back. The DS3 Racing comes in one of two colour combinations: Obsidian Black body with a Sport Orange roof or a Polar White body with a Carbon Gray roof. Both look pretty cool actually!
