Fight Back Against Peugeot Car Depreciation with Finance Gap, Peugeot Contract Hire or even RTI Gap Insurance
The Peugeot RCZ
Heralded as Peugeot’s answer to the Audi TT, the RCZ
first found its way on to the catwalk as a concept car back
in 2007. Much to the delight of its fans then, the production
version has kept all of the main design features that were
incorporated into the concept model, with only a few tiny
details having been altered.
First off, it has to be said that the RCZ is a real looker,
so if you’re in the market for a sporty little coupe
that’s going to turn heads at the very respectable
price of between £20,450 and £22,750 (just under
£7,000 less than you would be paying for the Audi
TT), then this could be the car for you. Although there’s
no denying that it has something of the look of the TT about
it, the RCZ’s sexy double-bubble roof and rear window,
arched aluminium effect pillars and two-position active
rear spoiler really make it stand out.
The RCZ comes in a choice of one diesel and two petrol
models, with the 2- litre HDI diesel version offering 163bhp
and CO2 emissions of 139g/kg. The 1.6-litre turbocharged
model, meanwhile, has a 156bhp motor and comes with either
an automatic or smooth six-speed manual gearbox. The 200bhp 1.6
version sits at the top of the range and provides acceleration
of 0-62mph in just 7.6 seconds, and fuel consumption for
both of the petrol versions shouldn’t break the bank
with 40.9 and 39.8mpg achievable respectively. The chassis is more than
capable and although the seating in the back is more for kids than adults, the
back bench does fold down giving the owner pleant more usefull luggage space.
The interior details, in the main, give the RCZ a feel
of real luxury, with leather dash featuring a large analogue
clock in the centre and chrome-effect trim around the dials,
although the plastic in the middle section of the door trim
and the glove box do spoil the effect slightly. The two
rear seats are probably only suitable for kids and luggage,
but then you only have to take one look at this little jewel
to see that it wasn’t designed as a family saloon.
While the RCZ is unquestionably a great-looking car with
loads of kerbside appeal, where it really stands out though
is in its performance. Tons of grip, excellent cornering
on those sharp bends and instant response make it a dream
to handle and give the driver the ultimate feeling of control.
Whichever way you look at it, it seems that Peugeot has
really outdone itself this time, and the RCZ will almost
certainly find its place as the TT rival.
